A rare collection of Beatles acetate recordings from their debut era through the mid-1960s is now available, newly released by the BEATFILE label. These acetates, which were distributed only to band members and close associates at the time, feature rough mixes from studio sessions before the final mixes were completed, as well as pre-production tracks for movie soundtracks. These lacquer disk sources are known for showcasing unfinished mixes and previously unreleased rough versions that have garnered attention over the years.
This new release, Acetate Direct Cuts, stays true to its title by intentionally preserving the characteristic needle sounds and surface noise of the original discs, offering a direct, unremastered experience of the raw, low-generation mono sources. This 2024 edition brings the unique sound of acetates—distinct from typical mixes—back to life, providing an exciting new collection for Beatles enthusiasts.
