★The legendary first visit to Japan in 1973 4 Tokyo performances from the Japan tour are recorded with the latest remaster. From the first day at the Shinjuku Welfare Pension Hall to the final performance at the Shibuya public hall, the first CD 4-disc collector's edition recorded with the best quality from existing recorded sound sources!
Japan tour in April 1973 when David Bowie, who led the peak of glam rock as Ziggy Stardust, came to Japan for the first time. Contrary to the image of an alien, he disliked airplanes and came to Japan by ship at Yokohama Port, causing a sensation in various places. From unique costumes with a Japanese taste to stage performances inspired by Kabuki, David Bowie, who was strongly influenced by Japan, performed five performances in Tokyo and four performances in each region. It is a set list unique to this tour, where new songs were also shown immediately after the release of the new album “Aladdin Sane” at the time, centering on the album “Ziggy Stardust”. "ZIGGY IN TOKYO” recorded four performances at Shinjuku Kōsei Nenkin Kaikan on April 8, 10, and 11, 1973, and the final performance at Shibuya Public Hall on April 20. From CD1 to CD2, the commemorative first day performance on April 8th is completely recorded, and "Panic in Detroit" and "Aladdin Sane" that cannot be heard in other performances are shown. It is completely reproduced with the latest remaster from the longest high-quality audience recording tape, from the intro "Song of Delight" flowing in the opening to the encore "Rock'n'Roll Suicide" to the ending where "Pomp and Circumstances" flows. CD2 also includes the performance on April 10th. Unfortunately, although the encore has not been recorded, the set list has been changed and "John I'm Only Dancing" and "Watch That Man" will be unveiled for the first time. It is recorded with a high-quality sound source comparable to the sound board due to the audience situation of quiet reaction. CD3 recorded the third Shinjuku Welfare Pension Hall on April 11th. All songs of the day are included, including the unrecorded encore "Rock'n'Roll Suicide" the day before. CD4 contains the performance at Shibuya Public Hall on April 20, which was the final tour after finishing the local performance. Unfortunately, the performance on the 18th, which was added later, had no sound source left, but the legendary final performance was recorded with a high-quality sound source. In the midst of the riot that overreacted to the enthusiastic fans and the police were dispatched, they took off their costumes and sang the encore "Round and Round" almost completely naked. It is a valuable recording sound source that captures the last performance where the legend was made, where the famous photo that conveys the enthusiasm at this time is also left.
